Minor surgery is any minor operation that can be performed under local anaesthesia, with short turnaround times and on an outpatient basis. This type of surgery covers the removal of small warts, skin appendages or moles that are visually bothersome and the patient wishes to have them removed.
It also includes small touch-ups on ears, such as correction of holes normally caused by the passage of time and reduction of nipples or areola in men who wear tight clothing and do not want it to show through.
The resection of small skin appendages refers to the removal of warts, raised moles or other appendages that are both visually and tactilely uncomfortable. The removal of these appendages is performed under local anaesthesia, they are simple, short and low-risk procedures. The suture is aesthetic, so there is no scar and the stitches are removed 5 to 10 days after the operation. If there is any doubt about the origin of the excised tissue, we will send it to the pathological anatomy service for analysis.
In some people, due to the passage of time or the use of very heavy earrings, tears can occur in the earlobe. In these cases we carry out a small operation, closing the current hole with sutures to make a new hole in another location so that the person can wear their earrings normally. The procedure usually takes about an hour and is performed on an outpatient basis.
Some thin men may have an exaggerated projection of the nipples or an excessive diameter of the areola. If the person likes to wear tight-fitting clothes, this is visualised as a relief and can produce an unsightly and uncomfortable image for the sufferer. Both anomalies can be solved by means of a small, simple operation under local anaesthesia on an outpatient basis.
The nipple is reduced by means of an incision in the crown and the four remaining flaps are sutured. The diameter of the areola is reduced by resection of part of the surrounding pigment and a circumferential suture. Both procedures are uncomplicated, painless and very low risk.
