Triceps prostheses are used to give volume to the underside of the arm when the arm is raised with the hand facing upwards at a right angle. Some people want to show great muscle development in the arms but avoid spending time in the gym, so it is common to combine the placement of these prostheses with biceps prostheses. It is a simple procedure performed under general anaesthesia for the patient’s comfort, but it is quick and low risk.
The operation consists of placing a prosthesis specially designed to give volume to the triceps on the lower part of the arm, where this muscle is prominent. It is important to mention that if the person who undergoes this procedure has no muscle development in the arm, in order to achieve a better aesthetic result our suggestion is to combine it with a biceps prosthesis, in this way volume will be achieved in the upper and lower face of the arm.

Yes, triceps prosthesis surgery can be combined with almost any other aesthetic surgery and it is common to combine it with the placement of other prostheses such as biceps or pectoral prostheses to achieve overall harmony in the male chest. In some cases, some patients who only have triceps prostheses placed may be left with an unbalanced morphology if we do not resort to placing prostheses in other areas of the arm.
The complications that can occur are very similar to those that can arise after the placement of prostheses in other areas of the body and are related to the material itself, to the long-term duration of the material or to the displacement or placement of the prostheses in the wrong places. We should always check that the centre we choose for this operation has well-trained and experienced professionals with a low rate of postoperative complications.
It is not necessary to change the prostheses on a scheduled basis, but we must remember that they are silicone gel prostheses that require long-term evaluation and monitoring due to the risk of breakage or leakage of the gel. For this reason our recommendation is to contact the surgeon after a certain period of time after insertion so that if there is a clinical or ultrasound sign of cracking or breakage, the prostheses can be replaced.
If only triceps prostheses are placed in the surgery, the postoperative period is quick, painless and very comfortable.
