No. It is a very simple technique, performed on an outpatient basis through the mouth. A small internal incision is made on both sides of the mouth to extract the fatty bags. There is hardly any swelling or bruising in the postoperative period.
The risk is minimal as this surgery is minimally invasive. The most important thing in this intervention is to make a correct indication, this technique should not be used in people who do not have a clearly rounded face shape as in these cases it can produce an unsatisfactory result by leaving an excessively sharp face.
