No. Most procedures are performed from inside the mouth, so the scars are completely hidden. In some exceptional cases, a small external incision is used, but the scar is usually practically imperceptible over time.
Significant swelling improves within 7–14 days, but complete resolution of swelling can take between 6 and 12 weeks. This is normal in bone surgery. The patient can resume an almost normal life within a few days, following medical recommendations.
It is common to experience temporary reduced sensitivity in the lower lip or chin skin due to manipulation of the mental nerve. In the vast majority of cases, this sensitivity gradually returns over the following weeks.
Yes. By modifying the bone structure, the results are irreversible. The jaw does not return to its previous shape.
