Your Hysterectomy Options
In most cases we remove the uterus by laparoscopy, through small cuts in the abdomen, and every organ removed is sent for analysis. You decide whether to have your ovaries removed or keep them, and the price is the same either way. We can also close the vagina in the same operation. If your uterus has already been removed, we remove the ovaries on their own.
We remove the uterus and both ovaries, which produce female hormones.

We assess every request on its own merits: the need, the expected benefit weighed against the risks, your health, and how well you understand what cannot be reversed.

The price of a hysterectomy covers your preoperative tests, the assessment consultation, the operation and hospital stay, follow-up appointments, laboratory analysis of the organs removed and, if needed, a blood test and an ultrasound.
Not necessarily. We decide with you whether to keep or remove your ovaries, based on your medical situation. The price is the same either way.
Yes. We can carry out the hysterectomy and vaginal closure in the same operation as a phalloplasty or metoidioplasty, with no increase in complication rates compared with two separate operations.
About phalloplastyYes. After a hysterectomy, Dr. Jesús Lago always sends every organ removed (uterus and ovaries) to the laboratory. If the analysis finds cancer, your care then moves on to a cancer treatment plan.
Yes. At Clínica 3 de Mayo, Dr. Jesús Lago can remove the ovaries on their own, and we will give you the price at your consultation. This is mainly for people whose uterus has already been removed and who then decide to start hormone therapy. Removing both ovaries while keeping the uterus has little benefit, as the risk of uterine cancer remains.
Yes, as with phalloplasty. We can carry out the hysterectomy and vaginal closure in the same operation as your metoidioplasty.
