Your Surgery in Madrid, Step by Step
If you live in Madrid or elsewhere in Spain, we see you for consultations at Apodaca or at the Hospital Fuensanta outpatient clinic, operate at Hospital Fuensanta and then look after your follow-up.
From First Consultation to Follow-Up
01
Your First Consultation
Your first consultation takes place at Apodaca (Monday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.), at the Hospital Fuensanta outpatient clinic (Thursday, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.) or by video call. We explain the operation and its risks, and give you an all-inclusive quote. A deposit secures your surgery date.
02
Preoperative Tests
Your blood tests and other preoperative checks are done at Fuensanta, on a weekday morning, at least twenty-four hours before your operation.
03
The Day of Your Operation
You arrive at 7 a.m. on the day of your operation, having fasted since the night before. Dr. Jesús Lago comes to see you in your room, and he lets your family know when the operation is over.
04
One Night in the Hospital
Most operations involve one night in the hospital. Some procedures are done under local anesthesia, in which case you go home the same day. When you are discharged, you leave with your operation report, your next appointment and your prescriptions.
05
Follow-Up
We see you for checkups at Apodaca or at the Hospital Fuensanta outpatient clinic for up to two years, depending on the type of operation.
After You Go Home
We continue to look after you once you have had your operation. If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact us at any time.
Ongoing follow-up
In person, by video call, by phone and on WhatsApp.
In an emergency
