What does the price include?

The price of a penile implant covers your preoperative tests, the assessment consultation, the operation and hospital stay, follow-up appointments, the implant you choose and, if needed, a blood test and an ultrasound.

My phalloplasty was done elsewhere. Can I still have an implant with you?

Yes. At Clínica 3 de Mayo, we fit both semi-rigid and inflatable implants in an existing phalloplasty, whether it was done here or at another clinic. Dr. Jesús Lago will assess your situation at your consultation.

What's the difference between a semi-rigid and an inflatable implant?

A semi-rigid implant is a rod you bend by hand: less hardware, fewer parts that can fail and a lower price. An inflatable implant is filled using a pump in the scrotum, which gives a more natural erection. The downside is that it has more components, so more parts that can fail, and it costs a little more.

How long does a penile implant last?

It depends on the model and how you use it. We'll talk this through at your consultation, once you have chosen a model.

I haven't had phalloplasty yet. Do I need to start there?

Yes. Penile implants are fitted in an existing phalloplasty, so if you have not had surgery yet, phalloplasty is the first step.

Penile and Testicular Implants

After phalloplasty, the new penis cannot become erect on its own. A penile implant provides the rigidity needed for penetrative sex, while a testicular implant adds volume to the scrotum. Dr. Jesús Lago performs these operations at Clínica 3 de Mayo in Madrid, for patients from the UK, Ireland and beyond. A penile implant costs €12,950 to €15,950, all-inclusive. A testicular implant costs €1,500 to €2,900, depending on where you had your first operation.

Choosing Your Implant

We place the implant inside the penis created by phalloplasty. A semi-rigid implant is a rod you bend into position by hand: it has fewer parts and costs less. An inflatable implant is filled using a small pump in the scrotum, giving a more natural erection. Testicular implants are fitted in a separate operation.

Dr. Jesús Lago fits a testicular implant and refines the shape of the glans under local anesthesia, and you go home the same day. The price depends on where your first operation took place: €1,500 if you had your phalloplasty or metoidioplasty at Clínica 3 de Mayo, or €2,900 if it was done elsewhere.
