What does the price include?

The price of orchiectomy covers your preoperative tests, the assessment consultation, the operation, follow-up appointments and laboratory analysis of the tissue removed, plus a blood test and an ultrasound if needed. With a general anesthetic, with or without scrotoplasty, it also covers your hospital stay.

Will orchiectomy affect my hormone therapy?

Yes. Orchiectomy removes the body's main source of testosterone, which often makes your hormones easier to manage.

If I have scrotoplasty, can I still have vaginoplasty later?

No. When combined with orchiectomy, scrotoplasty uses the scrotal skin that would otherwise form the labia, so vaginoplasty is no longer possible afterward. If you are considering vaginoplasty, even several years from now, Dr. Jesús Lago will not perform a scrotoplasty.

What's the difference between local and general anesthesia?

The operation itself is the same, and the tissue removed is sent to the laboratory either way. A general anesthetic adds an observation period of less than twelve hours. You decide which you prefer at your consultation.

Orchiectomy

Your Orchiectomy Options

We remove the testicles through an incision in the scrotum and send the tissue for analysis. The options differ in the type of anesthetic (local, with same-day discharge, or general, with a short period of observation) and in whether the scrotum is reshaped.

Only the area is numbed: you stay awake and go home the same day. We preserve the scrotal skin, so you can still have vaginoplasty later if you wish.
