Why does the surgeon check my forehead first?

Because heavy-looking eyes aren't always caused by the eyelids. If your forehead and eyebrows have dropped, they push down on the eyelid, and operating on the eyelid alone won't solve the problem. That's why Dr. Jesús Lago assesses both, so he treats the right area.

Can I have a brow lift at the same time?

Yes. When the assessment shows it is needed, Dr. Jesús Lago combines eyelid surgery and a brow lift in a single operation.

Ectropion is a possible complication of eyelid surgery: if the lower eyelid is pulled too tight, it turns outward, away from the eye. It can be corrected.

When are the stitches removed?

We take the stitches out on the fifth day after surgery.

How can I hide the bruising?

For the first few days, a pair of glasses will hide the bruising.

Eyelid Surgery in Practice

We operate on both upper eyelids, both lower eyelids or all four, depending on where excess skin and fat are weighing your eyes down. First, Dr. Jesús Lago checks the position of your forehead and eyebrows. If they have dropped, eyelid surgery on its own won't be enough, and he will suggest adding a brow lift.

We treat one area (both upper or both lower eyelids) and hide the stitches in the natural crease of the eyelid.
