How Top Surgery Works

We choose the technique based on your chest size and skin elasticity. Double incision also removes excess skin, while the periareolar approach (around the areola) leaves very little scarring. Either way, the breast tissue removed is sent to the laboratory to check for any abnormality.

Suitable for a medium or large chest, or a small chest that has dropped from wearing a binder. We make an incision under the chest and remove the breast tissue and excess skin. We then thin the nipple and graft it lower down, toward the side of the pectoral muscle, where a male nipple sits. For the first few days, the graft survives only through contact with the skin beneath it, and any movement can cause it to fail, so strict rest is essential. You will have a horizontal scar under the pectoral muscle.

“Very good service, all my questions were answered and I was reassured throughout the whole process. I am English and don't speak Spanish, but there were plenty of translators. I had a masculinising mastectomy and I am obese, and I am overjoyed with my results and the level of care I received.”

Masculinizing mastectomy

  • “I had a top surgery a week ago. Dr. Lago's team is amazing, mindful and respectful with pronouns and name. I have a huge tattoo that had been preserved. It's not surgery, it's art. The aftercare in c/Apodaca is great, Dr. Sara is calm and gentle.”
