Augmentation mammoplasty is a surgical procedure whose objective is to improve the size and shape of the breast when a woman has a small breast or there is asymmetry. In cases where there is also a significant sagging of the breast, a mastopexy is also performed.
The ideal approach to obtain the best aesthetic result is the axillary approach as the scars are hidden in the armpit, and the prostheses are placed via the retromuscular and subfacial approach without interfering at all with the breast or sensitivity. The prostheses are thus completely camouflaged and the formation of folds (rippling) is avoided, obtaining the best morphological and aesthetic result.
The ideal prostheses for this procedure are medium or high projection round prostheses with intermediate cohesive gel, as this gel will move with gravity, simulating the displacements of the breast.

The results via the axillary route are the best as visible scars are avoided and the prosthesis is always placed under the pectoral and fascia without interfering at all with the gland or the nipple. On the other hand, our centre has professionals with maximum training, experience and updating, this is what leads us to a very low rate of complications and optimal results.
Nowadays they have evolved a lot, the current prostheses are more resistant and consist of at least 5 layers of external silicone gel, which allows a longer duration, but they are not exempt from suffering some breakage. Our recommendation is that after approximately 15 years of their placement, they should be evaluated and controlled by the surgeon as the risk of breakage increases, this risk is present in all brands.
No, no brand offers such a warranty without risk of breakage.
The prostheses we use in our operations are guaranteed forever and by guarantee we mean the replacement of the prostheses by the laboratory in the event of breakage or leakage through no fault of the patient or the professional. This does not include the costs of surgery and hospitalisation to remove the old prostheses and fit the new ones.
Until now, no tumours have been associated with the presence of breast prostheses. However, rough breast prostheses have recently been withdrawn in France because they have been associated with anaplastic large cell carcinoma of the breast. Although this is not absolutely confirmed, they are not being used as a precautionary measure.
Yes, a mammogram can be performed, although part of the breast may be covered by the prosthesis, preventing its correct visualisation, so we recommend combining it with an ultrasound scan. On the other hand, frequent mammograms can cause a rupture of the prosthesis, so it is more advisable to carry out a breast follow-up with magnetic resonance imaging.
Salvage surgeries are surgical treatments aimed at treating or modifying complications or negative results of a previous surgical treatment performed at another centre.
